Call to Action: HB 6557

"We are very concerned that the Judiciary Committee will let HB 6557 die in committee.  Your help is critical to prevent this. Expanding the Recreational Use Statutes to include towns and municipality is important for all recreation in Connecticut.  However, if the committee takes no action on the bill by April 15th, it will simply die."

Pedal-Driven: A Bikeumentary

Pedal-Driven: A Bikeumentary.  Trying to do our part and spread the word about this non-profit documentary.  What is it in a crisp sentence?  "IMBA and Howell at the Moon Productions team up to produce the most anticipated bike film of 2010.  "Pedal-Driven" celebrates and debates mountain biking as a legitimate and sustainable recreational activity."

We Have a Grand Prize Winner!

The Great 2010 Data Drive is over!   Who won?  The answer lies within, and you probably won't be that surprised!   Just in case you decide not to read this, I want to once again thank Hydrapak for sponsoring this contest!

Google Fusion Tables

Do you ever wonder what is up with the red trails basemap on our maps?  Do you ever wonder how they work and, maybe, just maybe, do you ever wish you could use these on your own Google Maps?  Well, thanks to Google Fusion Tables now you can.  That whole thing I love about providing the data we collect here to almost anyone that wants it?  Well, we just took a giant leap forward.  Sure, this editorial is a little nerdy, but c'mon, humor me...

Primer on Derailleurs - Part One

Confused  (or in my case, completely unaware) about what Low Normal vs. High Normal means?   What about Short vs. Medium vs. Long Cage derailleur lengths?  Check out Oz's latest explanation/write up/whatever about that stuff and more.

Trustfire TR-801 LED torch

Days are getting shorter you know.  Time to dust off your lights and charge em up!  But hey... maybe your current light does not put out enough light?  Maybe you want both a bar and helmet mounted light?  Maybe you need a backup light?  What's that?  You don't want to spend a lot of cash?  Well, Kill Your ATV might just have a $35ish solution for you.   From China with love!

Save West Hartford Reservoir!

It is looking like the MDC could very well be shutting down the West Hartford Reservoir for public recreation.   This would be a shame.  I am sure every single one of us has some fond memories with "The Rez" as the backdrop.   Thankfully, some people are stepping up and getting organized - "Save The MDC Trails" is working towards getting the proper legislation passed so West Hartford Reservoir can remain open to the public.

"Protect Our Trails" Resources

Well hey now, it's spring.  We have even enjoyed a couple really nice days now... 60+ degrees and sunny?  GTFO!   Who wants to get out and ride?  Yeah, me too.   Problem is where?  Certainly you don't want to go muddin' and trash our beloved trails.   Lucky for you we have some tools and tips on keeping our singletrack, well, single.    We even just unleashed a new one, our so called Historical Precipitation Lookup tool.

Stickers? You want some? We just got some.

It's been a year or two since we replenished the sticker supply.  Plus I figure with a brand spanking new website we should probably bust out some new designs to keep things flowing.   Good right?  So you want some?  Or maybe you just curious how much of a horrorshow my remedial design skills have birthed?   Either way, pop on in, check them out and learn how you can get some for yourself.
