What is This?!

This is a contest, sponsored by Hydrapak, that we are holding in the spirit sharing the love and bulking up Crankfire's data.

How do you win?

To overly simplify it: the users that contributes the most data to Crankfire.com win stuff.  I suggest you read through the Official Rules document (pdf) for the nitty gritty details of it all.

How do you play?

It's simple: add, upload, associate, markup, rate and tag stuff. You will also accrue points by general participation! For example, commenting on stuff, posting in our forums - generally just by interacting with this website.

Prizes will awarded twice a month, on the 15th and last day of each month, to the single user that contributes the most data during each of these periods.  You can only win once during the contest, but you will still remain eligible for the Grand Prize (so keep going!).

Scores will be generated every night at 1:00am and posted to our "Current Leaderboard" page.

This contest begins March 1st and ends on midnight, September 30th 2010 and is only open to legal residents of the United States.

What do you win?

Hydrapak schwag! We are talking nice top of the line Hydrapak hydration packs here! Plus, a Grand Prize of a whole bunch of Hydrapak stuff along with a $550 Lowrance Endura Sierra GPS that will be awarded to the single use that contributed the most data over the entire contest period.

See below for a breakdown of the prizes.

What kind of data?

Well, GPS data is great, but big ticket items are things like trails and bike shops we are missing in the system, writing your own review of either of those, waypoints (especially parking waypoints), trail reports, photos and events. Smaller ticket items include rating stuff, associating data, tagging users in photos and making comments.

Oh and this stuff might be worth extra: http://www.crankfire.com/help/missingdata

We prefer data within New England, New York and New Jersey - but we will accept data from anywhere in the United States.

Miscelleny

Please remember that the spirit of this contest is to collect quality data and make this website as complete and useful as possible!  We have put in measures to prevent contest abuse.   Please, please please please, don't taint our quality data with garbage just to win something!

Or, for that matter, don't go overboard!  For example, something like uploading 50 photos of a bike shop when 3 or 4 will more than suffice.

Really it comes down to this, and I hate that I have to say it, but please use common sense.   Things like posting trails closed to biking, posting man made trail enhancements and other such no-no's will be deleted and may result in your disqualification.   Before posting maybe think to yourself "Is this legal" and "will this be helpful to the mountain biking world"?

Big brother will be watching?

Oh yeah, please don't steal data!  It is wrong, and is a douchey thing to do.

Lastly, the "scoring matrix", A.K.A. how we are scoring this contest, is a secret.

    @Nathan Cloud

Hmmm... still screwed up for me at work and home, after multiple refreshes and even restarting the browser. Maybe some sort of super cache thing?? I dunno, but the 'e' in 'images' is still missing in the link above for me (the one on this page, not the one at the top of the main page, which works).

FYI - the link to the "Official Rules document" gets me a 404 error. Does that mean there are no rules?
