Let's get you up to speed here
How do you think Special Agent Utah knew what break Bodhi was going to surf the 50 year wave on? I will tell you: Bodhi Tweeted it:
"50 yr wave @ Burleigh Heads! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, man! I just hope Utah doesn't show up. LOL. Vaya con Dios, Brah's!!"
Or what about Burt Mancuso and the U.S.S. Dallas finding the Red October so easily? C'mon now, I have personally heard the tapes, seismic anomoly my ass! The Caterpillar propulsion system was perfect. Fact is, Jonsie friended Captain Ramius on Facebook, who in turn posted this on Visilli's wall:
We will pass through the American patrols, past their sonar nets, and lay off their largest city, and listen to their rock and roll... while we conduct missile drills! ROFL! We just need to get to the Reykjanes Ridge so we can high speed run it.
Yeah, I am a dork, but...
What can we learn here?
I think the lesson would simply be that we shan't ignore social media.
Social Media?
I am talking about everything from Facebook to Twitter, Del.icio.us to StumbleUpon, Digg to Reddit, YouTube to Vimeo, Flickr to Picasa! And sure, I admit it, this is all for a single selfish reason: promotion. But hell, isn't that the purpose of all social media anyway? Whether it be for a promoting a company or for promoting yourself?
The Meat of It
These are the six social media destinations that Crankfire currently has presences on:
We have a Facebook group. Chances are you have a Facebook account. Why not find our little group and join? At very least I try to post up any articles, reviews or site news items up there.
Twitter! Love it, hate it, or think its just ok - it is here and if used in the right ways, it can be a quick handy little tool to keep up with what is going on with all sorts of stuff. Follow us here!
Ahhh Flickr. Good stuff. So maybe you upload some of your biking photos to Flickr? Why not add them into the Crankfire group on Flickr? It's easy and sort of fun!
Vimeo is nice video hosting. They have a nice clean look and excellent video quality. Guess what? We have a Crankfire group on Vimeo! Add your biking videos to it!
Lastly.... YouTube! We have a Channel on YouTube as well. Subscribe to it to keep tabs on us.
MySpace. Gah! I really don't like MySpace at all. It just makes me angry when I visit. Regardless, we are on there. I can't seem to remember my login right now either so don't expect much action. I will try though.
The Rest of It
There are also countless other social "bookmarking" sites out there. To name few: Del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, Reddit, and Digg... and I want you to put them to use! On most pages you will find some sort of "Share This" button that simplifies sharing stuff here on Crankfire. Take this page for example, look at the top right hand corner, you will see a little "share" link/icon doodad. Mouseover it or click it - it will give you some options and help you through this whole sharing process.
Or, on "data" pages, look in the right hand column under "Information", you should see the universal "share" icon there ready for you to utilitze and launch that page off into internet land. I circled it in red in the image to the left.
However, a fair warning! These services all look for relevency and quality - a belief I share. For the sake of the internet, these services, and Crankfire - only share it if you really mean it - and it makes sense.
Lastly, I want to touch upon RSS feeds. We have them. Lots of them. A few examples:
2. How about an Events feed?
3. Comment feeds - here is one for all of them. Or for each object on Crankfire, you can subscribe to individual RSS feeds for each of them!
4. How about a Media RSS feed so you can keep tabs on media uploaded?
5. Forum RSS Feeds? Yup. Or go into each forum and look at the bottom of the page to get forum specific feeds.
I know, RSS feeds are not really Social Media in the aforementioned sense, but they are am excellent means to keep tab on ole Crankfire!
And there are more formats!
But I am not going to go into them right now. Just know that there are other formats we provide such data feeds in. What's more? There are lots more options and configurations available for getting all sorts of data from Crankfire "remotely". However, that's a whole other thing for another day! A thing that could have some pretty cool implications.
If you are curious though...
In Conclusion
Help me help you by helping others find this website. All I ask is you do it honorably. Digg us, Stumble us, post links on your Facebook, whatever! It's all good.
Oh yeah, for future reference, look in the footer and you should see a "Social" block with quick links to the "meaty" ones.

Eventually we're going to look like old boring guys trying to be cool. That may have already happened.
On the surface, yeah, a little. But dig a little deeper inside yourself and embrace it, it will free you. Overall though, this is awesome stuff.
This seems gay, what do you think Nate?
I just checked it... it is EXACTLY 140 characters. Deleted scene or not, it is clearly real.
Firsties! Btw guy, Bodhi's tweet was like way longer than 140 char. Wtf? I think I am on the FB group. I <3 Petfire!
