wow its been four years since the last post of this trail. Well I'll give you an update. I decided to ride the orange trail CCW and found it to be more of a hike in a lot of parts. The start of the trail is paired up with the red trail and has many many roots and rocks and a good amount of mud mixed in. the orange trail then breaks right up a nice trail and then up a short but very steep section (note bottom right on map). Once up top the rest of the trail is a mix of steep assents and descent on rocky hiking paths. Be warned new people (like i am) its a bit technical and if you havent gotten your touch and balance you will be getting off =). I had a great time and look forward to many more visits. Gonna try a CW run next time as bikerag suggests.

Every time I go, at least 3 new lines pop up.. Some times you have to put a little work into making trails more free-ride friendly.. All the goodies are there, just takes a little time clearing debris.. IF you look at the map I uploaded, the highlighted one, and follow it, youll find most of the tidbits.. IF not, happy to give a tour, try and post the next group ride here too.. Not a gonzo place, but unique and fun..

I rode here a couple times last year... I didn't find much of the good stuff that you've got pictures of though.

Ill upload 2 maps to the picture file. One with LOOP highlighted in orange.. Few trails missing, ill fix that, but in general, ride the looop clockwise and youll do well.. Skip the loop around the pond, its muddy, rooty, bad..

This place rocks, although to make a loop with hike a bike it is challenging. I like to ride the place clockwise, on and off the blue to avoid hiking.. Some really cool lines everywhere.. Rollers, drops, techy rock lines, slickrock, nice views.. One of the most underappreciated riding spots in the state.. Once the lines get worn in and more noticable, should be more enticing.. Look for group rides on the rag if you want a tour.

Trail overview from trailrunner.com. Found this trail overview over at trailrunner.com:

"Red and orange trails go around the lake, red is about 1 mile, orange is about 2.25 miles and has some nice views to the west. Green trail is a short loop through the woods. Go right out of the lot for about 1 mile and pick up the Metacomet trail (blue blazes) on the right of ledge rd. it meets the orange trail and continues through to shuttle meadow res."
